A fire broke out at the Purina Mills pet food plant in East Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, U.S., on August 15, burning for nearly five hours before firefighters extinguished it, report Fox 43.

The one-alarm fire started around 6:21 a.m. in a grain bin and was extinguished by 11 a.m., according to East Hempfield Township Fire Department Chief John Kottmyer.

The blaze originated in an 80-foot tall grain bin containing 50 tons of material and is believed to have been spontaneous, Kottmyer told Fox 43. He explained that employees had been unloading grain on Thursday when a storm passed through the area, causing some of the grain to become wet.

Firefighters used thermal imaging to locate the heat source, which were concentrated near the center of the bin. Crews battled the fire from above, positioning themselves on the roof of the structure.

No injuries were reported, and officials do not suspect foul play.
