Fire destroys Florida grain elevator office

The office and warehouse at one of Florida’s few remaining grain elevators were destroyed by fire Tuesday.

NorthEscambia.com has reported that fire destroyed the office building and warehouse at Tensley Grain in Walnut Hill, Florida. The elevated grain silos, constructed in 1965, were not damaged.

No injuries were reported. Officials believed the fire started in the office area. The warehouse contained mostly animal feed.

Multiple Escambia County Fire Rescue stations responded, along with the Poarch Fire Department, Atmore Fire Department, Escambia County EMS and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The cause remains under investigation.
