paNOW's Alyssa Rudolph reported that workers at a Walker Farms grain elevator in Borden, Saskatchewan, used fire extinguishers and water to hold back a fire before firefighters arrived. Walker Farms said in a Facebook post that a grain dryer caused the fire.

Borden and District Fire Chief Ian Wainwright said the fire was largely contained when crews arrived, and firefighters cooled the area down. He said stronger winds could have pushed the flames toward the elevator and estimated damage at about 40,000 Canadian dollars, including the loss of a truck and a small diesel grain dryer.

Wainwright said the elevator itself was not damaged, but a bin was heated, and any damage to the bin or the grain inside had not been determined.
