Mountaire Farms’ Prime Quality Grain division will host a free grain safety workshop for farmers and first responders on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company.
The training sessions, offered at 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., will teach participants to recognize grain bin hazards and respond to grain engulfment emergencies. Each three-hour session includes classroom instruction and hands-on rescue training with the Safety & Technical Rescue Association.
“Grain bin incidents can happen in seconds and often have tragic consequences,” said John Ward, Mountaire director of safety. “We’ve hosted events for first responders before since they are first on the scene of an accident. But helping farmers understand how to prevent accidents is also critically important, and we’re proud to be able to bring these training resources to our community.”
The classroom portion covers grain bin hazards, engulfment risks and emergency response procedures. The hands-on training focuses on safe rescue techniques, entrapment response and coordination between farmers and first responders.
