Teen critically hurt in grain elevator fall

An 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries while filming social media content.

WCCO’s Aki Nace and Adam Duxter reported that an 18-year-old was critically injured Monday evening after falling nearly 20 stories inside an abandoned grain elevator in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police said the teen was trespassing with a group inside the decommissioned Checkerboard Grain Elevator near 38th Street and Hiawatha Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when he fell onto an elevated platform.

Neighbors and workers said the teen was filming for social media. Residents reported making hundreds of calls about trespassers at the site.
