The Standard-Journal's Kevin Mertz reported that firefighters battled a blaze atop a 186-foot grain elevator Wednesday morning at Country View Family Farms in Union County, Pennsylvania, where a column of black smoke was visible from the structure.
The building's height posed significant challenges as firefighters carried equipment up stairs to reach the fire.
The $47.3 million mill, which opened in September 2024, is equipped with a ground-level pipe system that pumps water to the top.
Multiple area fire departments responded to the scene.
