Cal Coast News' Karen Velie reported that the San Luis Obispo County sheriff's deputies have identified juvenile suspects who allegedly threw fireworks onto the roof of Templeton Feed and Grain on July 4, destroying the historic granary.
The fire burned for two days, with flames shooting from the top of the 80-foot grain silos built in 1912. The suspects' identities remain private as the investigation continues.
Owners Rick Jermin and family had no insurance after their policy was canceled three years ago. They plan to rebuild the retail structure with community help but won't replace the silos.
The family has partnered with Penny Newman to continue producing their feed recipes while working to establish temporary operations.
