KIRO 7's news staff reported on a stubborn fire at Johnson's Millwork, Tacoma, Washington. The fire, which started around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, burned intensely in the basement, forcing crews to withdraw to defensive operations when they couldn't safely access the source.
By Monday morning, the roof had collapsed at the 99-year-old facility, which contains wood, chemicals and sawdust. Additional portions of the building continued to collapse as crews watched.
"One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital Sunday night," said a Tacoma Fire Department Battalion Chief. The injury was described as minor.
