One dead, three injured in explosion at Texas flour mill

Early morning blast partially collapses building at Panhandle Milling facility in Dawn, Texas.

ABC 7 news' Jamie Burch reported that an explosion at Panhandle Milling in Dawn, Texas killed one employee and injured three others early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Emergency responders were called to the grain milling facility at 3:30 a.m. for an industrial accident involving a building explosion. Hereford Fire Marshal Todd Murray said one building was partially collapsed.

Three injured workers were transported to area hospitals with burn injuries. Rescue teams discovered the body of Melissa Mungia, 36, in the collapsed structure around 6 a.m. Her body was extricated approximately 90 minutes later.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including fire departments from Hereford, Dawn and Amarillo.
