Grain Bin Accident Kills One at Crystal Valley Co-op

Employee was loading a train when he was trapped in the bin

A grain bin incident involving an employee occurred June 16 at Crystal Valley Cooperative in Hope, MN.

According to the company, emergency services were called to Hope around 9:20 p.m, and rescue efforts began as soon as they arrived.

A Crystal Valley employee became fully engulfed in a grain bin while loading a train, leading to his death.

According to reports, the sheriff’s office identified the employee as 36-year-old Paul Jasper Frantum, of Pemberton.

Crystal Valley said Frantum was loading a train when he got trapped in the bin.

"Crystal Valley extends their heartfelt appreciation to the emergency services and volunteers on site," the company said in a statement. "Our deepest condolences go out to the employee's family and friends.
