
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service released its monthly Fats and Oils report, revealing declines in soybean and canola crushing for February.
Soybean crushing for crude oil decreased to 5.67 million tons (189 million bushels) in February, down from 6.38 million tons in January and 5.80 million tons in February 2024. Crude oil production fell 11% from January to 2.24 billion pounds.
Canola seed crushing also saw a significant drop, with 170,856 tons processed in February compared to 205,923 tons in January and 205,713 tons in February 2024. Canola crude oil production decreased 18% from January to 132 million pounds.
In contrast, edible tallow production increased 31% from January to 93.3 million pounds, though it remained 4% below February 2024 levels.
Cottonseed once refined oil production continued its downward trend, decreasing 6% from January and 25% from February 2024 to 31.8 million pounds.
