U.S. wheat exports reached a marketing-year high of 490,600 metric tons during the week ending August 6, up 17% from the previous week and 43% above the four-week average, with Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines as the leading destinations.

U.S. wheat exports reached a marketing-year high during the week ending Aug. 6, while corn sales for the upcoming marketing year showed strong gains, according to the latest USDA Weekly Export Sales Report.
Wheat exports totaled 490,600 metric tons for the week, up 17% from the previous week and 43% from the prior four-week average. Mexico led destinations with 110,700 MT, followed by Japan at 81,500 MT and the Philippines at 66,000 MT. Vietnam and Peru rounded out the top five destinations.
Net wheat sales of 255,900 MT for the 2026/2027 marketing year were down 14% from the previous week. Mexico again topped the list with 101,100 MT, while South Korea purchased 87,700 MT and Indonesia bought 66,500 MT.
Corn showed particularly strong performance in forward sales. Net sales of 924,500 MT for 2026/2027 went primarily to Mexico at 416,400 MT, with Colombia purchasing 129,200 MT and South Korea buying 55,000 MT. For the current 2025/2026 marketing year, net corn sales reached 410,700 MT, up 46% from the prior four-week average.
Corn exports for the week totaled 1,767,300 MT, with Mexico receiving 426,500 MT and Japan taking 407,300 MT. Spain imported 358,600 MT, while Colombia and Venezuela received 221,200 MT and 109,100 MT respectively.
Soybean sales for 2026/2027 reached 1,759,900 MT, with China accounting for 1,446,000 MT of that total. Taiwan purchased 16,500 MT and Mexico bought 15,200 MT. Current-year soybean sales of 75,100 MT went primarily to China, Japan and Indonesia.
Rice sales began the new marketing year that started Aug. 1 with 152,200 MT in net sales. Mexico led with 66,900 MT, followed by Japan at 25,000 MT and Colombia at 15,000 MT. An additional 70,900 MT in sales carried over from the previous marketing year.
Cotton sales for the new marketing year starting Aug. 1 totaled 905,000 running bales of Upland cotton. Vietnam purchased 222,500 RB, Pakistan bought 164,200 RB, and Bangladesh acquired 81,100 RB. Pima cotton sales reached 50,600 RB, with India taking 21,900 RB.
Livestock product exports showed mixed results. Pork net sales of 36,300 MT were up 33% from the previous week, with Mexico purchasing 14,200 MT and Japan buying 6,400 MT. Beef net sales of 14,400 MT were down 27% from the previous week but up 10% from the four-week average.
