
Net sales of corn for the 2025/2026 marketing year totaled just 116,700 metric tons (MT), down 68% from the previous week and 70% from the prior four-week average, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s weekly export sales report. The figure represents a marketing-year low for the commodity.
The decline came despite increases for several major buyers. South Korea purchased 86,100 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations. Colombia bought 84,300 MT, with 85,400 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 7,000 MT. Mexico accounted for 79,900 MT, including 32,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 16,600 MT.
These gains were offset by reductions for unknown destinations totaling 256,400 MT, along with cuts for Portugal (55,000 MT), El Salvador (9,800 MT), Japan (4,500 MT), and Leeward and Windward Islands (200 MT).
For the 2026/2027 marketing year, corn sales performed better at 1,026,900 MT. Unknown destinations led purchases at 490,400 MT, followed by Mexico (151,500 MT), South Korea (151,000 MT), Japan (60,000 MT), and Taiwan (39,100 MT).
Actual corn exports during the week reached 1,925,500 MT, up 26% from the previous week and 14% from the prior four-week average. Mexico received the largest shipments at 535,700 MT, followed by South Korea (347,300 MT), Colombia (305,700 MT), Japan (196,600 MT), and Spain (167,500 MT).
Wheat sales showed more strength, with net sales of 296,400 MT for 2026/2027 up 4% from the previous week and 6% from the prior four-week average. The Philippines led purchases at 87,800 MT, followed by Mexico (68,700 MT), Vietnam (62,000 MT), and Thailand (43,600 MT).
Wheat exports totaled 419,000 MT, up 31% from the previous week and 46% from the prior four-week average. South Korea received 90,700 MT, Thailand got 67,600 MT, and the Philippines took 57,800 MT.
Soybean sales also hit a marketing-year low at 32,200 MT for 2025/2026, down 89% from the previous week and 79% from the prior four-week average. However, sales for 2026/2027 reached 903,900 MT, with unknown destinations accounting for 497,500 MT and China purchasing 330,000 MT.
Rice sales showed the week’s most dramatic decline, with net sales reductions of 54,300 MT for 2025/2026 marking another marketing-year low. The reductions came primarily from Mexico (14,600 MT), Japan (13,100 MT), South Korea (9,900 MT), Haiti (7,500 MT), and Taiwan (5,000 MT).
