The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service released its monthly Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report, revealing a significant decline in corn consumption for alcohol and other uses.

Total corn consumed for these purposes in February 2025 was 465 million bushels, down 10% from January 2025 and 6% from February 2024. Of this total, 92.6% was used for alcohol production and 7.4% for other purposes.

Corn used for fuel alcohol production decreased to 421 million bushels, a 10% drop from January and 5% lower than February 2024. Dry milling accounted for 91.9% of fuel alcohol production, with wet milling at 8.1%.

Co-product production also saw declines. Distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) production fell 8% from January to 1.70 million tons, while wet mill corn gluten feed production decreased 10% to 229,265 tons.

These figures provide crucial insights into the corn processing industry's production trends and potential market impacts.
