Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has announced its grain elevators of the year for the 2023-2024 crop year, honoring Cargill Elva in Canada and Elbow Lake Co-op Grain in the United States.
The annual award recognizes facilities that move high volumes from a single loading point while demonstrating efficient railcar loading and a strong commitment to safety.
Jonathan Wahba, CPKC Senior Vice-President Sales and Marketing, Intermodal, Automotive & Bulk, said, "Our grain Elevator of the Year award honours a commitment to safe and efficient operations in our grain supply chain as we work together to help producers in Canada and the U.S. supply the world with high-quality agricultural products."
Cargill Elva in Melita, Manitoba, a first-time winner, moved more than 450,000 metric tonnes of grain while maintaining safe and efficient loading operations. Jeff Vassart, President of Cargill Limited, expressed appreciation for the recognition and highlig
hted upcoming investments, including a new canola processing facility in Regina.
Elbow Lake Co-op Grain in Minnesota secured the award for the third consecutive year, moving over 543,000 metric tonnes across the U.S. north network. The facility also leveraged CPKC's expanded network to transport multiple corn trains to Mexico.
Kevin Stein, General Manager of Elbow Lake Co-op Grain, attributed the success to joint efforts between the cooperative, its customers, and CPKC.
