WDAY reported that crews from multiple agencies responded to a significant fire at a grain elevator in Donaldson, Minnesota, a small town in the state's northwest, early Friday morning, November 29.
The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from local fire departments, including mutual aid requests for water support. The blaze, located near a residence on Elm Street, spread debris onto nearby railroad tracks, forcing a temporary shutdown of train operations.
Dave Thompson, chief deputy, of the Kittson County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the fire was contained by mid-morning Friday.
"The grain elevator was very much compromised," Thompson said. "We’re just glad no one was hurt."
Emergency personnel remained on-site late into the morning to manage smoldering rubble and ensure the safety of the railroad tracks. Authorities reported no injuries among the public or emergency responders.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
