KCTV’s Miya Ingle reported that North Kansas City is spending $2.8 million to demolish the former Purina Mill building, originally built in 1913 by Wabash Railroad. The city declared it a dangerous structure and took possession in 2022. Mayor Crews will dismantle it piece by piece rather than implode it because the building sits between two active railroad tracks and contains asbestos. The deconstruction will take six to eight months. Removing the deteriorating structure was deemed necessary for public safety.
