Iowa Corn Growers Association farmer-leaders and the Iowa Corn Leadership Enhancement and Development Class 12 attended National Corn Growers Association Corn Congress meetings this week to advocate for agricultural priorities.
The group pushed for nationwide, year-round E15 passage in the Senate, renewal of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, bipartisan farm bill development and reduction of input costs through fertilizer industry consolidation exploration and removal of countervailing duties and tariffs.
Iowa farmer-leaders met with Sens. Ernst and Grassley and Reps. Feenstra, Hinson, Miller-Meeks and Nunn. Attendees also met with congressional offices from states without established corn grower organizations.
“Attending Corn Congress is imperative because the decisions made in Washington directly dictate our farms back home,” said Mark Mueller, ICGA president and farmer from Waverly. “When Iowa farmers show up to share the day-to-day realities of our operations, we provide lawmakers with the essential context they need to make informed decisions.”
Iowa corn leaders met with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, USDA Under Secretary Luke Lindberg, the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Trade Representative and attended a House Ag Committee meeting.
Stu Swanson from Wright County was elected to the NCGA board for a three-year term.
