
U.S. agricultural exports showed mixed performance across commodities last week, with sorghum and rice exports reaching marketing year peaks while pork net sales dropped to their lowest point of the season, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s weekly export report.
Sorghum exports totaled 309,700 metric tons, marking a marketing year high and showing significant gains from both the previous week and the prior four-week average. China received nearly all shipments at 309,400 metric tons, with Mexico accounting for the remaining 300 metric tons.
Rice exports also hit a marketing year high at 127,900 metric tons, up substantially from recent weeks. Mexico led destinations with 67,700 metric tons, followed by Japan at 27,700 metric tons and Jordan at 10,800 metric tons.
Grain exports vary by commodity
Corn exports decreased 5 percent from the previous week to 1,815,600 metric tons, though figures remained 8 percent above the four-week average. Mexico topped destinations at 482,900 metric tons, with Japan receiving 262,000 metric tons. Net sales for corn rose 16 percent week-over-week to 1,157,100 metric tons for the 2025/2026 marketing year.
Wheat net sales reached 400,800 metric tons for 2026/2027, primarily for Japan at 167,400 metric tons and Mexico at 80,300 metric tons. Exports totaled 314,300 metric tons, with South Korea leading at 68,600 metric tons.
Soybeans surge, pork slumps
Soybean exports jumped 34 percent from the previous week to 552,400 metric tons. Egypt received the largest share at 218,300 metric tons, followed by China at 136,300 metric tons and Indonesia at 73,900 metric tons. Net sales for 2025/2026 rose sharply to 424,900 metric tons, up 49 percent from the four-week average.
Pork net sales fell to a marketing year low of 16,100 metric tons, down 31 percent from the previous week and 50 percent from the four-week average. China and Mexico each accounted for 4,100 metric tons in net sales. Exports totaled 30,000 metric tons, declining 12 percent week-over-week.
Meat and cotton trade
Beef net sales dropped 45 percent from the previous week to 10,400 metric tons, with Japan and South Korea as top buyers. Exports decreased 15 percent to 13,000 metric tons.
Cotton net sales of upland varieties totaled 177,100 running bales for 2025/2026, down 15 percent from the previous week but up 5 percent from the four-week average. Pakistan led purchases at 76,600 running bales, followed by India at 39,600 running bales.
