Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and the IGP Institute at Kansas State University will offer hands-on training for conveying equipment operation and maintenance Dec. 1-3 at the IGP Institute campus.
The two-and-a-half-day program combines instructor demonstrations, hands-on practice and pre-course online modules. Participants will work directly with five types of conveying equipment: distributors, screw conveyors and bin sweeps, chain (drag) conveyors, belt conveyors and bucket elevators.
The training targets engineers, project managers, grain elevator operators, maintenance personnel, millwrights and safety professionals looking to sharpen technical skills and reduce downtime.
“Having the hands-on experience helps so much more putting things into prospective and understanding how they work rather than just talking about them in front of a screen,” a 2025 participant said.
After completing the course, participants will be able to install, operate and inspect conveying equipment, troubleshoot problems, understand grain quality impacts from improper equipment use and apply safety practices.
Registration is open through Nov. 4 at early-bird rates: $1,800 for GEAPS members and $2,000 for nonmembers. Prices increase after the deadline. Space is limited.
