Nick Wolfenden named chairperson of Animal Agriculture Alliance board

New leadership team aims to guide organization in supporting animal agriculture’s future.

The Animal Agriculture Alliance announced new board leadership following its fall meeting in Washington, D.C. Nick Wolfenden of Cargill will serve as board chairperson starting Jan. 1, 2026. Brett Kaysen, PhD, of the National Pork Board, was appointed chairperson-elect, also beginning his term in January. Tom Super of the National Chicken Council will continue as board treasurer.

Wolfenden, Cargill’s global sustainable animal welfare director, leads the company’s animal welfare strategy and has represented Cargill on the Alliance board since 2020. He succeeds Lisa McComb, who completes her term as chairperson on Dec. 31 and will remain as immediate past chairperson.

“The Alliance board and executive leadership play a vital role in supporting the organization’s mission to safeguard animal agriculture’s future,” said Alliance President and CEO Hannah Thompson-Weeman. She praised Wolfenden, Kaysen and Super as standout leaders in the animal agriculture community.

Additionally, Perdue Farms Inc. will join the board in 2026, represented by Herb Frerichs, general counsel and director of government affairs. Several board seats were renewed or extended, including representatives from Alltech, American Farm Bureau Federation, Merck Animal Health, National Corn Growers Association and others.
