The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and Kansas State University's IGP Institute will offer two specialized training programs for grain industry professionals in the coming months.

The Hands-On Training for the Operation & Maintenance of Conveying Equipment, scheduled for December 9-11, 2025, combines instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice with pre-course online modules. Participants will work with five types of equipment: distributors, screw conveyors and bin sweeps, chain conveyors, belt conveyors and bucket elevators.

"The information that is shared on this course comes from a combination of technical material and experience of the instructors, which is invaluable," said Carlos Campabadal of Kansas State University.

Early bird registration before November 12 is $1,800 for GEAPS members and $2,000 for nonmembers, with prices increasing by $100 afterward.

The Grain Elevator Managers Course, set for January 20-23, 2026, will cover personnel management, grain quality, equipment handling, drying, operations costs, inventory management, shipping, condition monitoring, aeration strategies and fumigation.

"Whether new to the industry or a seasoned veteran, the Grain Elevator Managers course gives participants more than knowledge—it gives them confidence," said GEAPS CEO John Caupert.

The managers course costs $1,200, with GEAPS members receiving a 20% discount.

Past participant Sean Skorbo highlighted the value of perspectives shared during the training, while Oren Goetz noted the benefits for safety, efficiency and maintenance knowledge.

Both programs have limited space, with registration now available.
