Enrollment is open for The GEAPS Safety Awards Program, designed to honor facilities that go an entire year without a work-related lost time injury or illness.

Keeping employees and facilities safe is no small feat. It requires a dedicated effort, a skilled workforce, and a thorough understanding of safety protocols to maintain a secure, accident-free environment. The GEAPS Safety Awards Program provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognize those who have achieved outstanding safety milestones.

This prestigious recognition is given to facilities that meet the highest standards for safety, with the Elite Tier Safety Award reserved for those that have had no recordable workplace injuries or illnesses over the course of a year.

Benefits of participation

Facilities that successfully complete the Safety Awards Program receive several benefits. Each participating facility is awarded a plaque that commemorates their safety achievement. In addition, these facilities are listed on the GEAPS website and recognized in In-Grain, GEAPS’ member newsletter.

The results of the Safety Awards Program are announced annually at the GEAPS Exchange event. The winners of the 2023 program will be recognized at this year’s Exchange.

These accolades serve as a testament to the dedication involved in maintaining a safe workplace and provide public recognition for those who prioritize safety in the grain industry.

How to apply

The program is open to a wide range of professionals in the grain industry, including those employed at grain storage facilities, are engineers, equipment suppliers, millwrights or hold other roles within the sector.

Interested facilities can download an application form and submit it via email to Deb Most, GEAPS’ membership and chapter services manager. If your facility has previously enrolled, contact Most for information on online enrollment options.

To complete the program, facilities must submit their OSHA forms at the end of the calendar year. For non-U.S. facilities, there is a specific reporting form available to ensure participation across all locations.
