The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council recently conducted its second train-the-trainers session in Senegal, focused on enhancing technical skills for local poultry and feed industry stakeholders.

The hands-on training involved 70 qualified participants from key operational regions and covered economic management protocols, layer hen health monitoring and visits to model farms.

"The Council's team in the EMEA region is committed to direct capacity-building efforts in Senegal, with plans to extend its reach to the wider region," said Mohamed Salah Bouthour, USGBC deputy regional director for Africa.

While in Dakar, the council's team met with representatives from Senegal's two largest feed mills, including one that began importing U.S. distiller's dried grains with solubles after a previous council-sponsored training.

The team also visited small-scale aquaculture farms to explore how U.S. corn co-products could benefit local industries and discussed future training opportunities with the Senegalese Poultry Association.
