The National Grain and Feed Association will host its sixth annual Harvest Safety Week Aug. 18-22, featuring presentations and resources aimed at preventing accidents during one of the agriculture industry’s busiest seasons.

This year’s program, themed “Safety First. Harvest Ready,” includes four recorded presentations by industry safety experts designed to help grain, feed and processing facilities and their farmer customers prepare for harvest.

“Safety is one of our cornerstones, and we have always worked to ensure that it remains a primary area of effort as we strive to cultivate healthy workplaces in agriculture,” said Jess McCluer, NGFA senior vice president of safety and regulatory.

The presentations will cover critical safety topics including ground storage pile safety, vehicle movement hazards, extreme weather conditions and worker fatigue prevention strategies.

Ground storage safety will focus on vehicle traffic control, machine guarding, fall protection and electrical safety. The moving vehicles presentation will address truck receiving areas, traffic control plans and mobile equipment operation.

Additional sessions will cover preventing heat and cold stress during changing harvest weather conditions and strategies for recognizing and reducing worker fatigue.

“The goal of Harvest Safety Week – like our other safety-related content – is to make agriculture a safer industry,” McCluer said. “We’re committed to doing whatever we can to boost effective safety awareness and practices.”

The NGFA encourages industry participants to register for the program and share resources on social media using #HSW25. Many materials will remain available year-round, supported by the National Grain and Feed Foundation.
