American Feed Industry Association hires new communications director

Cornelia Poku brings a decade of agriculture and nonprofit experience.

The American Feed Industry Association has appointed Cornelia Poku as its new director of communications, effective Aug. 4.

Poku, who brings more than 10 years of experience in agriculture, health care and nonprofit communications, will lead strategic communications efforts for both AFIA and the Institute for Feed Education and Research.

"We are thrilled to welcome Cornelia to the AFIA team," said Victoria Broehm, AFIA's vice president of member experience. "Her depth of communications experience across agriculture, health care and nonprofits, combined with her strategic mindset and passion for storytelling, demonstrate that she will be invaluable in our mission."

The Rockville, Maryland, native holds a bachelor's degree in public relations from American University and a master's in education from Lesley University.

Before joining AFIA, Poku worked at AmeriCorps, where she managed a $3.1 million marketing and communications budget.
