Randy Duckworth, a seasoned association executive with deep roots in global agriculture, has been appointed as the new executive director of the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance (SSGA). Set to begin his tenure on January 6, 2025, Duckworth brings a wealth of experience in agricultural association management and international food marketing to the role.
SSGA Chair Bob Sinner expressed enthusiasm for the appointment, highlighting Duckworth's extensive knowledge and experience in the global food industry. Duckworth's background includes overseeing marketing, promotion, and research activities in over 75 countries, with a particular focus on connecting producers, processors, exporters, and food manufacturers.
Most recently serving as CEO of the Global Pulse Federation in Dubai, Duckworth's career has been marked by significant contributions to the agricultural sector. He has held positions on various international committees and boards, including the International Agri-Food Network and the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Legume Systems Research at Michigan State University.
In his new role, Duckworth will be responsible for SSGA's day-to-day operations, strategic direction, and relationship cultivation with members and industry partners. He succeeds Eric Wenberg, who retired in September 2024 after leading the organization for its first 5 1/2 years.
Duckworth expressed his commitment to listening to SSGA members, expanding outreach, and pursuing innovative funding opportunities to strengthen the specialty soya and grains industry. His immediate tasks will include finalizing plans for the Identity Preserved International Summit and Transportation Go!.
This appointment signals SSGA's continued focus on enhancing its role in the identity preserved agricultural sector, with Duckworth poised to lead the organization into a new era of growth and innovation.
