OSHA says Columbia Grain Int'l failed to follow number of safety standards

OSHA has cited Columbia Grain International, based in Portland, OR, after an employee died when he was buried under corn in July at its Arvilla, ND, grain elevator, reports KFGO.

OSHA says the company failed to follow a number of safety standards and proposes $190,000 in fines.

Columbia Grain International has 15 days to comply with the citation, request a conference with OSHA's area director or contest the fine.

Fifty-eight-year-old Kevin John Anderson was cleaning a bin when he became buried under 15 feet of corn and died.
