Day 1 Near Miss Program & Reporting

This training discusses near miss programs & reporting systems - what are some of the essentials, and how to engage employees and management. One area of confusion is what exactly is a near miss and is it an "accident", an "incident" or something else. The instructor will engage participants interactively in defining "near miss" for their company's near miss reporting program; discuss how "accident vs incident" is used by safety and other professionals: and share methods to engage employers and employees in the near miss program. Length 1.5 hours

Presenter: Paul Ronczkowski, MPH, CSP

Day 2 Near Miss Metrics Use & Root Cause Analysis
Training discusses how to use information from near miss reports to achieve safety goals and operational improvement through leading and lagging indicators. The training looks at conducting root cause analysis of a near miss to discover what steps can be taken to prevent future incidents and leads participants through a small group exercise. Length 2 hours

Presenters: Brain Grimm, GHSC Board of Directors, Corporate Safety Director, and Dennis Jarrett, vice president of Continuous Improvement Teasdale Latin Foods
