A fire at Kent Nutrition's feed mill in Sheldon, Iowa, damaged a feed pellet machine and an exhaust system on December 7.

According to a report at KIWA, when fire crews arrived, facility employees were knocking down the fire inside the pellet machine with fire extinguishers as well as the sprinkler system.

Firefighters used water and foam to subdue the fire. Another fire department was called in for additional crew.

Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt says firefighters and Kent employees continued to take apart the pellet machine and exhaust system and removed the burnt feed pellets from the cooling bin.

Fire damage was confined to the one pellet machine, the exhaust system and several pallets of paper.

Cause of the fire is unknown.
