U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC) Senior Marketing Specialist Javier Chávez recently led representatives from a major tortilla and chip producer on a visit to Iowa to enhance their sustainable sourcing strategies and deepen their understanding of North American Export Grain Association (NAEGA) contracts.

The company first encountered NAEGA contracting at last year’s Export Exchange conference and renewed its interest in U.S. corn after touring farms and supply chain facilities in Nebraska and Missouri.

“After learning about the NAEGA contracts and seeing sustainable production and traceability along the U.S. corn value chain, the group requested specific training to gain further insights,” Chávez said.

The visit included a stop at Corteva’s Carver Research Center, where participants explored greenhouses and research facilities showcasing advanced crop science. The group also met with NAEGA representatives at Iowa Corn’s headquarters to focus on contracting procedures.

Chávez praised USGBC members and partners like Corteva, Iowa Corn, and NAEGA for bridging the gap between customers and producers, giving U.S. growers a competitive edge.

“Building strong connections with international buyers is vital to generating demand for U.S. agricultural goods,” he said, thanking Iowa Corn for facilitating the NAEGA seminar amid their busy schedules.
