Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. has acquired a grain elevator and rail transload facility from Mennel Milling Company, the company announced.
The property in Upper Sandusky, Ohio includes extensive grain storage and high-capacity unit-car rail transloading capabilities. The acquisition gives Kalmbach direct access to local grain and supports the company’s operations in feed, pet food and ingredient manufacturing and distribution.
“We really appreciate the opportunity to work with Mennel, another exceptional family business,” said Paul Kalmbach Jr., a family member. “This transaction was built on trust and reflects the great working relationship between our two teams.”
Kalmbach said the facility will allow the company to better serve its customers moving forward.
The deal represents an expansion of Kalmbach’s existing infrastructure network. The rail transloading capabilities provide an efficient method for moving grain and other materials, while the storage capacity offers flexibility for the company’s supply chain operations.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
