JGL Commodities has entered into an agreement to acquire the Providence Grain Terminal near Marengo, Saskatchewan, with the transaction expected to close in August 2026.

The terminal will strengthen JGL Commodities’ presence in a productive grain-growing region of Saskatchewan while expanding its ability to connect producers with domestic and international markets.

“This is a significant step in the evolution of JGL Commodities,” said Shea Jameson, CEO of JGL. “The terminal in Marengo is a strategic asset that fits naturally within our existing business model. It allows us to expand our presence in an important production area, strengthen our relationships with producers, and provide additional marketing opportunities while continuing to deliver value throughout the supply chain.”

The acquisition will add grain handling and storage capacity to JGL Commodities’ network, supporting a reliable and efficient supply chain for producers and end-use customers.

“We see ourselves as a long-term partner for producers,” said Glen Loyns, general manager of JGL Commodities. “This investment allows us to provide another competitive marketing option while creating greater connectivity between Prairie grain production and the customers we serve around the world. Our focus remains on helping producers maximize the value at the farm gate while delivering consistent, reliable supply to our customers.”

JGL Commodities will retain local staff and continue operating the facility as part of the local agricultural economy. The company remains committed to supporting the Marengo community and building long-term relationships with producers in the region.

Upon closing, JGL Commodities will share additional information regarding the facility’s operations, services and future plans.
