Bühler Group has acquired German plant engineering firm endeco GmbH and its subsidiary endeco Protein and Food, effective January 1, 2026. The move follows a partnership between the two companies that began in 2022, focused on plant-based proteins.

Endeco brings expertise in starch, protein, and food applications, while Bühler offers scale, market reach, and a broad technology portfolio. Together, they cover the full value chain for plant-based protein production, aiming to move from pilot projects to industrial-scale operations.

Mike Häfeli, CEO of Bühler’s Business Grains & Food division, said endeco’s agility and process knowledge complement Bühler’s capabilities. He noted potential for growth not only in proteins but across other areas of Bühler’s business.

Karl-Heinz Bergmann, managing director of endeco, described the acquisition as a natural step after years of collaboration. He emphasized that endeco’s team and working methods will remain unchanged, with the ability to serve more customers faster.

Endeco will operate as a Bühler company, maintaining existing customer relationships in the starch and dairy sectors in Germany. The Protein Application Center at Bühler’s headquarters in Uzwil will become part of Bühler’s Special Grains and Pulses business unit. Over time, the two companies will collaborate more closely on projects that benefit from their combined expertise.
