Midway Coop officially completed the asset purchase of the former United Ag Services facility in Lucas on May 1, 2026, marking another step in the cooperative’s commitment to serving producers across north central Kansas.

Operations under Midway Coop management began May 4 with no service interruption during the transition. The Lucas location provides grain, agronomy, feed, seed and supply services to area producers.

Facility offers significant storage capacity

The facility includes approximately 670,000 bushels of concrete grain storage along with a high-capacity grain handling system designed to move grain quickly and efficiently, an important advantage for farmers during peak harvest periods.

“The purchase of this location represents an exciting step forward for Midway Coop,” said Craig Mans, general manager. “As a cooperative, every decision we make is guided by what’s best for our members and the communities we serve.”

Strategic location strengthens network

Located just nine miles from Midway Coop’s Luray elevator and service station, the Lucas facility strengthens the cooperative’s existing service network while expanding support for producers in the Lucas community.

Midway Coop will retain current employees John Keller and Austin Beaty to support local customers. Sam Princ, a Lucas native who has been with Midway Coop for nearly three years, will serve as branch manager.
