CHS Inc. is auctioning eight properties across Minnesota and Mississippi through a sealed bid process, with a deadline of Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. Central Time. The sale comes as the farmer-owned cooperative plans to close three grain elevators in southern Minnesota after the 2026 fall harvest, citing changes in how grain moves through the supply chain.
The company told employees in June it will shutter elevators in Kasson, Ostrander and Wykoff. CHS said the grain supply chain in southern Minnesota has evolved into a market where local corn and soybean processing facilities and river terminals are now the primary destinations.
“The grain supply chain in southern Minnesota has evolved into a market where local corn/soybean processing facilities and river terminals are the primary markets,” CHS said in a statement.
The company plans to operate the facilities through fall harvest and continue buying grain for delivery to processing and river facilities. CHS has invested significantly in its Mankato and Fairmont elevators.
Kasson facility leads offerings
The largest property in the auction is the Kasson grain elevator and fueling station, sitting on 8.08 acres at 107 8th Ave. S.W. The facility offers approximately 3.5 million bushels of combined grain storage capacity, including 3.3 million bushels in listed bin storage and 190,000 bushels in temporary flat storage with an asphalt base.
The property features a 40,000 bushel-per-hour grain receiving capacity through multiple dump pits and includes a 2011 Zimmerman 12,000 BPH tower dryer. The site also has a 24/7 self-serve Cardtrol fueling station and two income-producing warehouses totaling 7,440 square feet that are currently rented to an established agricultural retailer.
The facility sits adjacent to the Canadian Pacific rail line with an inactive spur that once connected the property to the railway.
Equipment at the Kasson location includes multiple elevator legs ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 BPH capacity, manufactured by Hyland Systems and Schlagel. The property also features a 2011 office facility with private offices, restrooms, shower facilities and a full basement, along with a truck scale and grain probe installed the same year.
Ostrander offers largest storage
The Ostrander facility at 110 3rd Street sits on 15.024 acres and provides approximately 2.17 million bushels of listed grain storage capacity. The property includes the facility’s 4,037-square-foot main office located at 208 North Main Street.
Storage at Ostrander includes a 927,000-bushel Lemar flat storage structure built in 2009, a 623,573-bushel Brock grain bin from the same year, and a 101,095-bushel GSI grain bin constructed in 1998. The facility has a 15,000 BPH GSI south receiving leg and a 10,000 BPH Schlagel north receiving leg, along with a 5,000 BPH Zimmerman grain dryer.
The property recently received maintenance work, including new cups and belt installed in the corn leg in 2024. The site also features a grain receiving office, machine shed and an owned 150,000-gallon propane tank.
Wykoff and Claremont facilities
The Wykoff grain facility at 405 East Fillmore Street covers 2.48 acres and offers approximately 1.4 million bushels of listed grain storage capacity. The property will sell together with an adjacent scale property at 216 East Front Street. The two tracts combined total 3.41 acres.
The facility includes a 651,257-bushel Sioux grain bin built in 2013 and a 491,654-bushel Sioux bin from 2012. Equipment includes a 15,000 BPH D-Line R&S receiving leg, 20,000 BPH fill conveyors and a 5,000 BPH GSI grain dryer. Recent improvements include a distributor rebuild in 2025 and reclaim conveyor work in 2023.
The Claremont facility at 135 West Front Street sits on 1.93 acres and provides 583,016 bushels of grain storage capacity. The property features a 337,306-bushel Sioux steel grain bin with permanent sweep, along with multiple Butler steel grain bins and a 2,508-square-foot office built in 1994.
CHS intends to lease back the office and truck scale at the Claremont location for a two-year term with a two-year renewal option at $12,000 annually, with CHS paying utilities. The buyer will have use of the scale during the lease term.

Other properties in the auction include two commercial storage buildings on 0.47 acres in Dodge Center, totaling approximately 2,036 square feet. A shop property near Ostrander on six acres features two heated shop and storage buildings totaling 6,544 square feet.

The company is also auctioning a grain and ethanol transload facility in Mt. Olive, Mississippi, covering approximately 154 acres.
