Bring Me The News' Adam Uren reported that CHS informed employees last week it plans to close three grain elevators in southern Minnesota after the 2026 fall harvest, citing changes in the grain supply chain that favor larger processing facilities.

The farmer-owned cooperative will shutter elevators in Kasson, Ostrander and Wykoff, though it may sell the facilities instead.

“The grain supply chain in southern Minnesota has evolved into a market where local corn/soybean processing facilities and river terminals are the primary markets,” CHS said in a statement.

CHS will operate the facilities through fall harvest and continue buying grain for delivery to processing and river facilities. The company has invested significantly in Mankato and Fairmont elevators.
