The Grain Elevator and Processing Society launched an updated online course designed to help storage facility supervisors understand how daily decisions affect grain value and profitability.
Introduction to Grain Quality Management targets new and emerging supervisors responsible for maintaining grain quality in storage facilities. The self-paced program examines the reasoning behind grain quality management practices throughout the handling process.
“Maintaining grain quality is one of the most important responsibilities at any storage facility,” said Carley Snider, GEAPS learning and development manager. “This course helps learners connect their day-to-day decisions to larger operational and financial outcomes, building the awareness needed to protect grain value and support profitability.”
The course covers grain quality management activities and documentation across multiple areas, including binning, conveyance, drying, grading, maintenance, pest control and fumigation, sampling, shipping, storage and weighing.
Participants learn to assess grain and environmental conditions, identify risks, apply best practices and determine appropriate actions to preserve grain quality and increase value.
The program is available on-demand through GEAPS’ online learning platform. Learners have 12 weeks after registration to complete the course, with an estimated completion time of five hours.
The course is part of the Credential in Grain Operations Management curriculum offered by GEAPS.
