The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council launched enhanced sustainability platforms earlier this month, upgrading its Sustainable Corn Exports system and introducing a new Sustainable Sorghum Exports platform under a unified Sustainable Grain Exports umbrella site.

The digital infrastructure improvements allow the council to provide stronger assurances for corn and sorghum transactions across international supply chains. The new framework addresses evolving requirements across multiple geographies and industries.

“The Council’s goal in creating these platforms is to continue evolving with supply chain requirements across multiple geographies and industries, that grains exporters and global customers can meet thanks to these assurances derived from the regulations and production practices prevalent across U.S. acreage,” said Carlos Suárez, USGBC director of global sustainability.

The enhanced platform enables the council to issue Records of Sustainability for U.S. grain export operations, providing greater visibility into American farmers’ land stewardship practices and production impact reduction efforts.

“Being able to offer Records of Sustainability for U.S. corn and sorghum export operations through the enhanced platform will give more visibility to the work U.S. farmers already undertake to responsibly steward the land and reduce impacts from production, that can give U.S. feed grains a significant boost in competitiveness in mature markets and bring more business to U.S. producers,” Suárez said.

The sorghum platform is fully operational, allowing immediate volume allocation requests and sustainability record transfers. Corn transactions remain in beta testing through April 30, with official business continuing on the existing platform until month’s end.

New features include pre-defined product attribute integration, enhanced portfolio management for importers across regions, and third-party sustainability program integration capabilities.
