The National Corn Growers Association and Ag Data Transparent announced a new partnership Tuesday to help farmers better understand carbon market contracts amid growing industry complexity.
The initiative, set to launch in fall 2025, will establish a framework for evaluating carbon program opportunities as farmers face an expanding but often confusing marketplace.
“The rapid expansion of carbon programs and solution providers in agriculture presents immense opportunities - but also significant risks,” said Sean Arians, NCGA vice president of Sustainable Production and Value Chain Engagement. “Farmers are left with limited information, unclear standards, and inconsistent program guidelines.”
The partnership builds on ADT’s established certification process, which has previously focused on agricultural data transparency. The organizations will now apply similar principles to carbon markets, where contract terms can vary significantly between programs.
“By building on ADT’s trusted brand and established framework, this new carbon-focused initiative will help farmers make informed decisions,” said Todd Janzen, ADT administrator and partner with Janzen Schroeder Ag Law.
NCGA is currently seeking additional funding from industry organizations to support the initiative. Agricultural stakeholders interested in participating can contact Janzen at [email protected].
