Iowa corn farmers pressed for nationwide year-round E15 sales and expanded trade opportunities during the National Corn Growers Association's Corn Congress meetings this week in Washington, D.C.
The Iowa Corn Growers Association delegation met with Iowa's congressional representatives and offices from other states to discuss critical agricultural issues.
"Even though the Iowa Corn Growers Association is a state organization, it is still imperative that we take the issues we are facing on our farms in Iowa to our legislators on Capitol Hill," said Stu Swanson, ICGA president and farmer from Galt, Iowa.
Farmers advocated for increased market access, an updated farm bill and addressed concerns about the MAHA movement's potential impact on pesticide use.
The group also met with officials from the White House, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Trade Representative and Department of Justice.
At NCGA's "Not a Latte" event on Capitol Hill, farmers educated lawmakers about pesticide use, noting that less than 16 ounces are typically applied per acre.
Iowa corn growers also collaborated with other state and national farm leaders to develop policy recommendations for NCGA to pursue at the federal level.
