Jim Pellman, a wheat farmer from McClusky, N.D., was installed as chairman of the U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) Board of Directors on July 17 during the organization's summer meeting in Boise.

Pellman, who grows wheat, barley, canola, corn and soybeans on his farm, brings extensive agricultural experience to the role. He previously served as vice chairman and represents Sheridan County on the North Dakota Wheat Commission.

"Jim deeply believes in the mission of USW to build export demand in a very competitive global market," said USW President and CEO Mike Spier.

In his new position, Pellman plans to meet with international customers to emphasize U.S. farmers' commitment to quality wheat production.

The board also installed Gary Millershaski of Kansas as vice chairman, Clark Hamilton of Idaho as past chair, and Mike Carstensen of Washington as secretary-treasurer.

During the meeting, the board discussed market updates, food aid programs, and long-range planning to support U.S. wheat exports globally.
