First CSAP-certified corn fermented protein shipment arrives in UAE

U.S. Grains Council hails milestone in sustainable feed market development.

The first-ever shipment of U.S. corn fermented protein certified under the U.S. Grains Council's (USGC's) corn sustainability assurance protocol (CSAP) recently arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The shipment is the result of a commercial agreement negotiated at recent Council conferences and events. U.S. Grains Council

The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) has announced the arrival of the first shipment of corn fermented protein (CFP) certified under its corn sustainability assurance protocol (CSAP) to the United Arab Emirates. This landmark delivery marks a significant step in promoting sustainable agriculture and expanding markets for U.S. corn co-products.

The shipment resulted from partnerships forged during industry events in Texas and Turkey, where international buyers connected with U.S. suppliers in the growing sustainable feed market.

Ramy H. Taieb, USGC regional director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said, "This milestone reflects the success of the Council's efforts to build relationships and facilitate deals that advance sustainable agriculture."

CFP, a high-value co-product of ethanol production, is prized for its high protein content and digestibility. Its arrival in the UAE indicates rising regional demand for renewable, high-quality feed solutions, particularly in the aquaculture and poultry sectors.

The CSAP certification ensures the corn used in CFP production meets strict environmental, social and economic sustainability standards. This aligns with global sustainability goals, including traceability, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and responsible land use.

"By aligning with CSAP standards, the shipment reinforces key global sustainability goals while supporting the UAE's strategic focus on food security and renewable agriculture," Taieb added.

This development comes as the feed industry increasingly seeks sustainable alternatives to traditional protein sources. The UAE's reception of CSAP-certified CFP could pave the way for expanded trade in sustainable feed ingredients across the region.

The USGC continues to promote U.S. corn and value-added co-products globally, emphasizing sustainability and quality. This shipment demonstrates the organization's commitment to fostering international trade relationships that benefit both U.S. producers and global partners in the agriculture sector.

As demand for sustainable feed solutions grows worldwide, this milestone shipment may serve as a model for future trade agreements and sustainability initiatives in the global feed market.
