The Shaw Local's Bill Freskos and Scott Anderson reported that one person died and another was seriously injured after becoming trapped in a grain bin Monday afternoon near Granville, Illinois, according to Granville-Hennepin Fire District Chief Neil Buffington.
Emergency crews responded to a farm after reports of someone trapped inside the bin. Initial reports indicate one family member fell into the grain, and another entered to help, resulting in both becoming trapped.
Rescuers used a grain bin rescue tube, auger system and grain vacuum to free the first victim, who was flown by LifeFlight to a hospital. The second individual was found near the bottom of the bin during a search and was recovered, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
