North Dakotan dies after becoming trapped in grain elevator pit

Emergency crews were unable to rescue the man before he passed at the CHS Elevator near Devils Lake, North Dakota.

Valley News Live's Bobby Falat reported that a 34-year-old man died Wednesday morning after becoming trapped in a grain elevator pit near Devils Lake, North Dakota, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department.

Emergency responders arrived at the CHS Elevator around 9:24 a.m. after reports that the man had fallen and was trapped in the corn stored in the elevator pit. Despite rescue efforts, the man died at the scene. His name has not been released pending family notification.

Krysta Larson, CHS director of reputation, content and channels, expressed condolences, saying, “Our thoughts are with the employee’s family and friends during this difficult time. CHS is cooperating with authorities responding to the incident.”

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
