Man rescued from Douglas County grain bin

A 63-year-old man survived a dangerous grain entrapment incident Wednesday morning in Douglas County.

WCIA's Molly Sweeney and Jordan Baker reported that a 63-year-old man is recovering from non-life threatening injuries after being rescued from a grain bin Wednesday morning in Douglas County.

The Camargo Countryside Fire Protection District responded to finding the man trapped inside a bin of corn. Technical rescue teams from Charleston Fire Department, Arthur Fire Protection District Grain Bin Rescue Team, and Urbana Fire Department led the multi-agency rescue operation.

The incident follows Monday’s fatal grain bin accident in Wabash County, where 21-year-old Steven Haase died in a similar corn bin entrapment.
