Grain bin entrapment kills worker in Illinois

Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Fire Department responds to fatal entrapment incident involving three workers at grain storage facility.

Tristate Homepage's Seth Austin reported that one person died following a grain bin entrapment near Mt. Carmel, Illinois, on June 1st.

Mt. Carmel Fire Department crews responded to reports of a man trapped in a corn bin. Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan confirmed that two people successfully escaped the grain bin, while one person was recovered from the facility.

Family members at the scene confirmed the recovered individual was pronounced dead. The Wabash County Coroner identified the deceased as 21-year-old Steven Haase.

Additional details remain under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the accident.
