Fire breaks out at Heartland Co-Op in Iowa

Firefighters respond to grain leg blaze; no injuries reported.

KMA Land's Ethan Hewett reported on an explosion and fire at Heartland Co-Op in Randolph, Iowa. Multiple fire departments from Fremont, Page, Mills, and Montgomery counties responded to the fire at the grain elevator in Randolph. The blaze began shortly before 2:20 p.m. when crews found one of the grain legs on fire. Glenwood and Shenandoah fire departments used aerial ladders to safely fight the fire. Eleven departments worked together, supported by tanker trucks and drone surveillance. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene into the evening, quenching smoldering areas. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
