The Grand Forks Herald's Sav Kelly reported on a large fire engulfed the grain elevator in Warren, Minnesota, early Wednesday morning, with firefighters from about 10 surrounding departments responding to the scene.
Fire Chief Josh Johnston said the city’s water supply was initially strained, prompting assistance from departments including Alvarado, Crookston, Argyle, Stephen, Viking, and Thief River Falls.
No injuries were reported, and nearby structures remained unaffected. The fire continued to smolder beneath the rubble, with plans to bring in an excavator to extinguish remaining flames.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials noted that grain elevators are prone to fires due to dry conditions and combustible dust.
