We Are Iowa's Rachel Wente and Caleb Geer reported that a contractor performing work at the Kent Nutrition Plant in Altoona, Iowa, was injured Wednesday after becoming entangled in machinery about 50 feet above the ground on a grain elevator rooftop.

Altoona Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the plant and officials were told a worker was injured at an elevated height.

Due to the complexity of the rescue, additional units were called from surrounding Des Moines metro fire departments. Once freed from the machinery and lowered to the ground, the man was transported to a local trauma center. His condition is not known.
